News Round Up: Thursday, 7.2.09
Not much new news out there today. Here’s what I could scrape up. I guess you’ll have to spend more time at work actually working. Sorry for that.
Packers Ranked as 13th Best Sports Franchise
The Packers dropped from number four last year to number thirteen this year in ESPN’s Ultimate Standings. I guess a losing season will do that to a team. Good to know though, that Lambeau Field is still the reigning champ as best stadium.
“Lambeau is a juggernaut. The Pack’s home has been the top NFL venue each year of the Standings, and this year it landed in the top overall spot for the fourth time. Attribute that to the G-Force campaign, a team-sponsored directive launched in 2007 to rally fans.“
Fantasy People: You Want GJ (Duh)
The Sports Network has a blurb on Greg Jennings’ rise in the league’s receiving ranks. Jennings was not on too many fantasy owners’ radar last year, but obviously that won’t be the case this year.
In 2008 this receiver played with a first- time starter at quarterback and was greatly devalued on Draft Day. He had a preseason Average Draft Position of 54.76 (19th wide receiver selected) but by season’s end was the No.6 wide receiver in fantasy points production. His name is Greg Jennings and he plays receiver for the Green Bay Packers.”
